What Is Kidz Kabaret In Naperville?

actors on the kidz kabaret state in naperville

Did you know that Naperville is the home to Chicagoland’s premier non-audition children’s theater company?

Kidz Kabaret in Naperville offers kids from Kindergarten through high school (and even beyond) wonderful opportunities to develop their self-confidence as they learn the exciting aspects of theater production.

If you have a stage diva or master thespian living in your household, the Kidz Kabaret staff offers professional, high-quality children’s theater to give your child the experience of acting on stage.  Children will not only learn how to memorize lines, but they will sing, learn choreography and do improv as well. It’s a fantastic jump into theatre.  It’s also a place to meet new friends where it’s so comfortable that many call it “a home away from home.”

Owner Kandiss Hernandez started doing plays with her children and neighborhood kids in her backyard in 2001.  Kidz Kabaret was formed in 2002 and currently has over 400 student actors.

This amazing theater has a state of the art sound system along with staff and students who consistently produce professional, high-quality children’s theater for the community.

kidz kabaret naperville logoSpecial acting workshops that provide extra training and tools run throughout the year and include: Vocal Motion, Act Out, Auditions, and a Show Stopper Class. These workshops are grouped by age and have a performance at the end of the session, too.

Annie, The Wizard of Oz, Grease, The Aristocats, Winnie the Pooh, Peter Pan, Avenue Q, Pop’s Malt Shop, and Thoroughly Modern Millie are just a sampling of some of the plays in the past year.  And each play has an elaborately constructed/painted set, costumes, lighting, microphones on the actors, and they probably even run more smoothly than some of the shows on Broadway due to the dedicated staff and volunteers.

Girls Scout and Boy Scout troops are welcome to come in for special classes to work on badges.  In addition, the Kidz Kabaret staff will customize a birthday party for your child including rehearsal and a 30-minute performance for parents to attend at the end.

Kidz Kabaret is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to helping put “every child center stage” and give them an opportunity to be in the spotlight.

If you want to sign up your future Tony Award winner, they’ll be happy to hear from you.

Why The DuPage River Trail Is Great

Growing up in the city, you grow accustomed to a lot of walking and no car.

Walk to the bus, to the train, taking your kids to school…everything is planned out and within, eh hum…”walking distance.”  Moving out to the ‘burbs several years ago, I found myself needing a car – and fast!  The transit system – aka Pace bus – was not going to get me far, unless I was heading down to the mall, which could be fun!  But that doesn’t get the groceries you need to put on the table.

I’ve had many cars since that time.  And, over the years, I’ve found myself relying too heavily on getting around by vehicle.  It’s an excellent tool, of course, to carpool, shop and even explore outside of the area! But, living from building to car to building, left much to be desired.

We recently picked up a couple of bikes for the family.  I have to say it’s been one of the best decisions we’ve made.
