When you hear fun in New Orleans…what do you envision?
Is it the wild and crazy times spent on Bourbon Street? Mardis Gras? The colorful and bright personalities you encounter when meeting and talking with locals? Their fascinating history? Fabulous architecture?
For me, it’s all of these things…but, the one thing that always comes to mind is the food.
When traveling, part of the experience for me is always living like a local. You never really know a place well until you do. New Orleans is home to some of the finest food in the US. It’s fresh, spicy, always homemade and there’s a lot of pride, time and history in those recipes.
But, with being in Naperville, it can be super difficult to travel down to New Orleans each time a craving strikes, which is where Heaven on Seven comes in.
Located right here in downtown Naperville, Heaven on Seven’s been serving up some great Cajun food this side of the border since 2004.
Very colorful and vibrant, just like New Orleans itself, they’ve recaptured the feel of eating in the Quarter. Tons of colorful and fun beads dangle from the ceiling, while toe tapping blues and Zelidico play in the background.
Their wall of almost every hot sauce imaginable is probably enough to make the vendors at the French Market a little envious!
Some of the local favorites here are their Red Beans and Rice – their sausage is fresh with a good ting. Ettouffee of the day is dujour here. Must try the gator ettouffee when available – simply a must try. No questions asked!
For the first-timer, their sampler platter is always a winning bet. A good healthy serving of their most popular dishes, you’re sure to find your favorite.
Seasonal selections are always offered. Their crawfish boil is sure to please – good tin bucket filled to the brim with ears of corn, tasty potatoes and a very generous portion of crawfish – eat the heads…I dare ya! (best part actually).
Seafood selections are always plentiful and tasty here, as well as the beer and drink selections. Your experience wouldn’t be complete without a Hurricane in your hand and some beads around your neck!
Pricing is reasonable, casual comfy…won’t break the bank, unless you decide on trying everything! Lunch and happy hour specials are offered daily and for those who would like to try their hand at making these great creations at home, Chef Jimmy offers special cooking classes a few times a month. There is also a great Jazz Brunch served up Sunday mornings…live music and great bloody marys!
