The “restaurant” is actually an old mansion that was built back in 1847. This ain’t no trendy hipster joint with sleek lines, dark lighting, and aluminum finishes. We’re talking good ‘ol fashioned wooden floors, narrow stairways, and small rooms. Just like they built way back when. Everything’s been renovated though so that you get the best of the old world and the new.
When you walk through the huge mansion pillars adorning the outside of the building, you’re warmly greeted in what was once the front hallway of the home. There are eating areas to your left and right as well as up the stairs. Further back, you’ll find a welcoming bar and gathering area.
This building sits on a 4-acre plot just a minute from downtown Naperville. There’s plenty of room for parking, eating inside and out, and even outdoor party events.
The food at Meson Sabika is “a unique taste of Spain”. Tapas-style dishes are their claim to fame. If you’re not familiar with what Tapas is, think of it as a collection of small plates and finger foods. So, instead of getting one big dish for your meal, you’re likely going to order 3-5 mini servings of various foods that encompass your dinner.
Although they have a lunch menu, I’d really recommend taking the time to stop by for an evening dinner because Meson Sabika’s dinner menu is outstanding. They have both hot and cold Tapas including vegetarian and gluten free options.
Of course, you can’t go to dinner without trying their sangria. I’m partial to the white sangria, but the red is also great. With a mix of wine, liquors, and fresh-cut fruit, this is one cocktail you can’t go without while here.
In case you’re considering a venue for a large event, Meson Sabika can accommodate that as well. With both a large indoor hall that was recently built as well as wide-open space outdoors, you’re not going to run out of room for people.
I actually had my wedding there – both the ceremony and reception – and it was awesome. Really great people, incredible food, and a relaxed atmosphere that was exactly what we were looking for.
If you’ve never been there before, we definitely encourage you to check it out.
