A gift store in the heart of downtown Naperville, the Naperville General Store sells a little bit of everything – both useful and fun items; “gourmet” food (such as Rothschild Farms) and “homey” foods (such as Whistle Stop Foods); kitchen items, bath & body care, candles & home scents, toys & games, retro candy, and many fun gift items including funny signs for the home, whimsical home office items, “penny” candy, and women’s accessories.
You get a warm feeling when you walk in the door at the Naperville General Store. Surrounded by wood floors and shelving, blackboard signage, gingham table covers, barrels, baskets and crates filled to the brim with some products that emphasize nostalgia and gentle humor. Most of the items they sell are made by small, family-owned companies just like the Naperville General Store itself.
When the store opened in September, 2013, owners Glenn and Debra Anton wanted to take customers back to a time that they might not have known firsthand but have always wanted to experience, almost like an escape. They never thought their customers would compare them to stores at Walt Disney World’s Main Street, USA.
The store is sure to have special decorations, gifts, snacks and more for each and every holiday! On an everyday basis, costumers are buying lots of their retro games, the jams and other breakfast foods and all the nostalgic items that relate to old music bands or television shows.
The Naperville General Store is definitely a must-see destination for Naperville visitors and residents! Whether it’s to browse, shop for gifts or sample some of their delicious food offerings, be sure to stop by during their normal business hours:
