Weird Al Yankovic Coming To Anderson’s Bookshop Naperville

weird al yankovic coming to naperville

You may know Weird Al Yankovic from his music.  With parodies of pop-culture songs, Weird Al has sold over 12 million albums, had 6 platinum records, and earned 3 grammy awards.

But did you know that he also writes children’s books?

Yep, he’s got two books under his belt.  The first was When I Grow Up, published in 2011.  The second is out on June 25, 2013.

This newest release is titled My New Teacher And Me.

You can meet Weird Al and have him sign a your very own copy of the book at Anderson’s Bookshop at 7pm on June 26.

The book is about a child named Billy.  To say he’s imaginative is an understatement.  When he meets his new teacher, Mr. Booth, they don’t quite meet eye to eye.  That’s because Mr. Booth is pretty much the antithesis of Billy.

Although Yankovic says that he had a teacher or two like the one in the book, the story and characters aren’t necessarily based on any living people.

To promote the book, Weird Al is literally traveling across the country in 7 days making 7 book signing appearances.

Our local stop is in Naperville where you can meet him in person and have him personally autograph your copy.  If you can’t make it there, call Anderson’s to purchase a book and have him sign it for you and pick it up later.
